Música Coral – Víctor Navarro

The musical seed was planted in Víctor Navarro's childhood. From the age of 8 until 20, he was part of the Orfeón Portuense school in his hometown. During this stage, both as a Pueri Cantor in the Escolanía and in the Youth Choir, he received a solid classical training in singing, piano, and musical language.

This deep immersion allowed him to study the giants of the European Renaissance. His work is nurtured by the legacy of masters such as Clément Janequin, Josquin Desprez, and Cristóbal de Morales, as well as the polyphony of Francisco Guerrero, Tomás Luis de Victoria, Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, Claudio Monteverdi, and Orlande de Lassus, performing their works in both treble and SATB versions.

His current compositions carry a sacred character, strongly influenced by this early learning. His catalog highlights pieces for equal voices, such as an Ave Maria and a Missa Brevis (Kyrie, Sanctus, and Agnus Dei), as well as works for mixed voices (SATB) like Stella Coeli Extirpavit: Antiphon against the Black Death—a tribute to those lost to COVID-19 through a historical parallel with the plague—and an ambitious Requiem Mass, where the 'XII: In Paradisum' stands out.

"Cantate Domino canticum novum, quia mirabilia fecit."

— Psalmus 97
