The Brass Buttons

After pain comes hope. When Driver 8 came to an end, Juanlu and I were pushed to react. The Brass Buttons arrived like an inevitable impulse, like the feeling that there were songs waiting to be written long before we even knew how to play them. From the very beginning I knew it wouldn’t be just another project, but a musical home.

I grew up surrounded by rootsy guitars, wide–open melodies and that light that always shone through the West Coast sound. What we did –and still do– was and is roots pop–rock, but also a way of looking at the world. I’ve always said we were chasing honesty rather than perfection: music as truth, not as a trick.

Brass Buttons — Estudio

With The Brass Buttons, all of that was amplified. We toured across Spain, played all kinds of festivals and travelled an endless list of kilometres that taught us to tune more than just the instruments – we learned to tune our gaze. We played in legendary venues in Spain and abroad, including the iconic The Cavern – Liverpool, a place where time seems to have a different texture.

Some concerts stay with you forever, but few as strongly as the live show we shared with Adam Levy (The Honeydogs) at the University of Cádiz. That concert eventually became the album Live at the University of Cádiz (2019).

Many things have changed since then, but I still feel that The Brass Buttons is a living story. A story that grows with me: music is not a destination, it is a way of walking.

And so we carry on, preparing our next album, Last War Lullaby: A 10.000 Years Story (2026), our tribute to The Honeydogs.
